In order to comply with legislation (General Application Regulations, Part 4, Chapter 2 ‘Manual Handling of Loads’), employers must provide training in the safe manual handling of loads for any staff engaged in manual handling.

This is essential training, and as outlined by the HSA, there are no exemptions or relaxation of legal requirements because of COVID-19 (see excerpt from Health and Safety Authority website below).

Level 6 Manual Handling Instructor
This 3 hour manual handling course is intended for all personnel who are involved in the movement of loads. It is delivered by a QQI awarded Fetac Level 6 Manual Handling Instructor.
